Boys & Men

"Boys ignore the good guys. Grown men ignore the bad guys. Boys make you cum. Grown men make you come home. Boys worry about not being handsome and/or studly enough for their man. Grown men know that they are hot and desireable for any man. Boys try to monopolize all their man's time (i.e, don't want him hanging with his friends). Grown men realize that a lil' bit of space makes the ''together time' even more special -- and goes to kick it with his own friends! Boys think a guy crying is weak. Grown men offer their shoulder and a tissue. Boys want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so. Grown men 'show' him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate w/o fear of losing his 'manhood'. Boys get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it. Grown men know that that was just one man. Boys fall in love, chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all 'signs'. Grown men know that sometimes the one you love, don't always love you back-- and move on, without bitterness. Boys will read this and get an attitude. Grown men will read this and pass it on to other Grown men"

I suppose I'm a grown boy.

OMG like WTF

It's official.
I am a magnet for assholes.
Or perhaps they are a magnet for me.
With one brilliant exception, all of the guys I fall for are complete jackasses.
There was the first, who broke up with his boyfriend, called me to meet up, and then called back to announce their reconciliation. Thus informing me of my plan B satus.
Then there was the guy who decided to break up with me while I was out of town.
Via Facebook. And now the guy who leaves me at the bar because someone more attractive (?) shows up and says hello.

I think God laughs at me every time I fall for these guys. I'm God's Tina Fey.

On a brighter note, I met some incredibly talented people today and got to hang out on
set at Gossip Girl.

Cupcakes are deadly

I stopped in to the Magnolia Bakery on Rockefeller Plaza tonight on a whim with a friend.
Half way through dinner an hour later we both begin to feel exhausted. Sugar Comas.
From one cupcake each. I suppose this is what happens when you are super healthy (her) or don't have a sweet tooth (me).

Cooling, is this?

Finally settling into this mad, mad town. After what seemed like an endless arrangement of dinners, lunches, brunches and drinks with a series of incredible people whom I can now see on a regular basis. My now engaged bestie from high school, a budding costume designer and a brilliant designer girl whose creativity is boundless included.

Managed to get a bit of work while I wait for Tulane Financial to work out its cluster fuck. Hung a series of enormous and heavy drapes for Naked Boys Singing at New World Stages, as well as focused lights for the York Theatre, which is buried deep beneath an Episcopal Catholic church. Episcopal Catholic...is that like all the spectacle with out the cardio based services? Also got a small illustrating commission which will come in handy seeing as my school is in a state of dysfunction, the likes of which I've not seen before.

what else...

Had my first bar 95$ bar tab. Not that that has not happened before, but usually it involves more than five drinks and more than one person. Well, a couple of people as I had to buy a few for strangers to get above the minimum. I think I will try out a bar diet of water for a bit. Both for my wallet and my liver, who is quite pleased with the move to NYC. The liver, not the wallet. Wallet is quite sad he can no longer support the lifestyle to which I was accustomed.

Enjoy the random camera phone pics. I need to find a new battery pac for my digi-cam.
Note to camera phone producers; a flash option is handy.

Fantastic Town

Things I love:
-multi-national takeaway
- swipe pay taxi cabs
-walking everywhere
-pastries bought from vending carts
(have not had many because I usually wake up after noon)
-New York Central Art Supply
-The N train
-Pay what you will at the Met
-The Lyric Diner at 3rd & 22nd
-Knowing quite a few people who already live here
-egg whites in cocktails
-well dressed doormen

Things less loved:
-I don't own enough black clothing to live here
-Starbucks proliferation
-not so great 20$ cocktails
- walking everywhere
-trains without LED displays
-my tendency to walk a mile in the wrong direction when exiting a subway stop
-out of house laundry facilities

yep...

... frozen.

But now I have a title page for the thesis monster.
I also know what karaoke night at a tourist trap in times square is like,
and which coat will be getting the most wear.

(all of you reading in New York, I need recommendations of bars. Now. thanks)

Also. When did I get fat!!!!!
Christmas did a job on my body. Well, that and my horrific (forced) diet of fast food last semester. Forced because you can't really get organic take away at 2 am in New Orleans, or anywhere for that matter. And after a day of dealing with Tulane and build/strike/paint calls from noon to midnight the last thing you want to do is cook.
That and I've not bought proper groceries since before Halloween. I've resigned to buy a pair of trainers and a gym membership as soon as Aunt Sally pays me.

There is something therapeutic about a treadmill. Probably all the fat melting away.

Je suis la...

So starts life in New York. Seeing a Draft pull in the shape of a telephone reciever.
No, I do not drink too much. Never mind why I was at the airport bar.

Safely secured away in Astoria, in a nice quiet blue room in an apartment full of
antique mixing bowls, pink tile, and a adorable fat cat named Ginger. Will venture out in a bit.

Not looking forward to freezing.
